Kathy Sirico is a visual artist working at the intersection of textiles, sculpture, painting, collage, and installation. Through a maximalist approach and experimental collage-based practices, she unites materials, strategies, and histories of fine arts, craft, and architecture to create large-scale wall-based sculptural installations and freestanding objects with new, found, and recycled materials. Following her aesthetic vision, she aims to innovate in the field of mixed media contemporary abstraction. Through obsessively accumulating materials and forms, she creates unpredictable sculptural works. She uses experimental textile-based collage practices to sculpturally re-envision actions of painting as a language of skins and structures. In processing diverse and often recycled materials, Sirico raises questions of ecological futurity. Her work weaves narratives of memory, desire, empathy, and loss in a world threatened by climate catastrophe. The works become ritual objects, worried into being, and asked to act as vessels to hold experience as we move towards an unknown future.

Sirico’s work has been exhibited throughout the U.S., including California, New York, and Chicago. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and she lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
