Michele Foyer is a visual artist. Her work has a preference for building sensations and multiplicity rather than a distillation of the already existing. Her paintings reveal the fragile, even delirious, attempt of any form to adequately contain a reality. Her work often appears first as a solid image, then soon reveals itself to be an aggregate composed of disjunctive spaces that are teetering at times. For her, what is at stake is a new definition of the verb “to abstract,” one that embraces construction and invention.

Foyer has exhibited in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York. She has curated 10 exhibitions of contemporary art. In conjunction with a 24-hour contemporary art experience for visitors, she also directed a program of artist talks. She lives and works in San Francisco, California.
