Peter de Swart is a sculptor and mixed-media artist. He works in series, both in painting and in sculpture. Among his solo exhibitions are: In the Eye of the Beholder (2011), Bolinas Museum, California; and a major exhibition of his light-sculpture series called Numinous: Peter de Swart Sculptures from the Light Series (2018). Numinous was held at the Lucid Art Foundation Gallery and included a publication of the same title. De Swart said of these sculptures: “It is not what I was searching for or trying to find, it is actually like a visitation. I am not an active agent in these pieces. These are announcements, as it were, from elsewhere, and I am just a grateful recipient.” He has created several volumes of photographs from his site-specific, multi-media art works, which now only exist in these photographs. 

De Swart is a faculty member of the Lucid Art Foundation artist residency program. He was born in Holland and has lived in Inverness, California, for the past forty years.
