Rachel Kaye’s paintings and drawings are known for their intense patterns, swirling lines, and graphic layering conveying a sense of freedom and joy. She writes: “Drawing and painting are a practice in meditation. Exploring color, hidden symbols, and motion. Thinking about the seasons and their change in mood—shadows and the optical play. Also having imaginary dialogues with painters of the past as guiding voices in the studio, which adds to the mystery of painting itself. Drawing has always been the core of my practice, but revisiting oil has pushed my process in scale and stroke.”

Kaye has collaborated with her husband, artist Jay Nelson, on exhibitions and site-specific sculpture. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in Paris, Tokyo, San Francisco, Oakland, New York, Los Angeles, and Palm Beach. She lives and works in San Francisco, California.
