Madeline Nieto Hope is a mixed-media artist who specializes in the reuse of materials that are spent, scarred, marked, torn, distressed, and ditched. The discarded objects become her prized raw materials. She reflects on each relic to learn the history of that item and its impact on the natural, social, or physical environment. The art comes from finding the meaningful bridge between the past and the present.

Pieces made by Nieto Hope at the Lucid Art Foundation express how energy is received and internalized; its impact on her nervous system; and the path to balance, inclusion, and a meaningful order in the face of pollution, violence, and chaos.

Nieto Hope’s sculpture practice has been informed by her work in resource management, innovation, and climate action. Utilizing her sustained interest in developing pathways for reuse, she works to reeducate and engage with the public. Her pieces have been exhibited in galleries across the US.

Nieto Hope was born in Montreal, Canada, and currently lives in Inverness Park, California.
